"The Napkin" Week 7 Gambling Preview...Allegedly

Last week did not go well for yours truly. I went 2-7 overall, including missing on both my Parley of the Week and Teaser of the Week. What do we do when we have a bad week? We stay the course! Rent is due on the 1st, so let's start the rebound. Here is "The Napkin" for week seven.

SPREADS

#14 BYU (-3.5) vs Houston - Friday Night

So this game already happened. I'm just here to brag about how I had BYU (-3.5). I won't lie, I did sweat it out towards the end but the Morman Manziel, Zack Wilson delivered for me. It also helped that Houston decided to fair catch a ball at their own 1-yard line in a game that was closer than the final 43-26 score would indicate.

Houston would score on this drive but who cares? BYU is good and hopefully, the CFP committee takes notice.

Kansas vs West Virginia (-22)

Let's start off by reminding everyone that Les Miles will not be traveling with the Jayhawks because of a prior positive COVID-19 test. Let's hope Coach Miles makes a speedy recovery form the virus. With that being said, even if Les Miles was coaching in this game, it wouldn't make a difference. Kansas is BAD, bad. Neal Brown has made a big impact on this Moutianeers team in his short time as head coach. I would look for West Virginia to cover easily.

MONEYLINE

#15 Auburn vs South Carolina (+125)

Aubrun has struggled this year. There were high expectations for the Tigers and, apart from a 2nd half against Kentucky, they haven't really played well. Bo Nix has to go on the road to play against a really good Will Muschamp defense. Bo Nix in road or neutral site games? 3-4. Expect the Gamecocks to make Bo Nix uncomfortable and have a good enough showing on offense to get the upset.

Boston College (+350) vs #23 Virginia Tech

This is my "everything needs to go right for this to work" game. Boston COllege has played much better than anyone expected going into the season. Phil Jurkovec has emerged as a high level ACC QB and Jeff Hafley has this team looking much better than it has in prior years. Virginia Tech is also the hardest hit team in regards to COVID. They haven't played a game this season at full strength Let's hope everything clicks and Boston College wins outright.

OVER/UNDER

#3 Georgia vs #2 Alabama - Under 58.5

Georgia has the best defense in the country and, while I like the Alabama offense, they will hold them to less than what they are accustomed to. On the flip side, Georgia moves the ball at a snails pace. I expect each team to score in the 20s. If a team gets to 30, that means the game is a blowout. I don't see that happening.

UCF vs Memphis - Over 75.5

UCF has a good offense and a bad defense.

Memphis has a good offense and a bad defense.

Points!!!!!

PARLEY OF THE WEEK

#5 UNC (-540) vs FSU

#3 Georgia vs #2 Alabama (-5)

UNC head coach Mack Brown is 0-9 in games against his alma mater FSU. That changes today. FSU is in a tailspin. They showed signs of life last week in the first half against a good Notre Dame team but they didn't have to play Future Minnesota VIkings QB Sam Howell. I expect him to have a big day against a bad secondary.

The Georgia-Alabama line started at -6 and then got to as low as -3.5 with the news of Nick Saban's positive COVID-19 test this week. I got it at -5 because of the rumor that NIck Saban will be able to return after three negative tests in a row. Regardless, I like Alabama to cover here. Nick Saban has never lost toa former assistant and I just don't trust the Law Offices of Stetson Bennett IV on the road, at night, against Alabama.

TEASER OF THE WEEK

6-POINT TEASER

Kentucky (+12.5) vs #18 Tennessee

Pittsburgh (+19.5) vs #13 Miami

Boston College (+19) vs #23 Virginia Tech

In an alternate world, I would have picked these three teams straight up. The lines on a 6-point tease were just too good to pass up. Tennessee has Jarrett Guarantano as their QB, Miami just lost to Clemson and may have that hangover lingering, and Virginia Tech has been hit by COVID pretty hard. All of these lead me to take a chance on the points here.
